Thanks for the info... I understand that this is an OS issue; I have found some links that provide patches to the 2.4.x kernel which allow multiple consoles, but from what I understand this still requires a modified X server as well.
I didn't know that the new kernel had built in support for this - If I can avoid a patch against 2.4.x that would be good - thanks!
