Hello all--

I have a Dell Latitude D400 with an Intel 855GM graphics chipset. With Fedora Code 1's XFree86-4.3, I am unable to switch to vc1. If I try when logged in, my session dies and X returns to the GDM screen. I can, however, switch back and forth from text mode when only the GDM screen is showing, without problem. (Yes, I've set the videoram with the 855patch and in XFConfig).

It seems as though 4.4-RC2 has some fixes for my chipset, so I installed the available binaries. Now, when on AC, I can log in and switch back-and-forth to text mode without a problem. The thing is, I can't even log in while on battery! If I do, the KDE login screen dies right as it's restoring the session, saying that the session manager got a segfault. Gnome dies in the exact same place as well.

My questions are:

- Is this a known issue?

- Is this fixed in the CVS copy and/or would it be worth spending the time to try it?

- Is there any information I can send to help diagnose the problem?

Thanks!
