In 4.3.0 days I made a change to the native keyboard driver that would
differentiate between Alt+Ctrl+SPECIAL and Alt+Ctrl+Shift+SPECIAL, where
SPECIAL is one of the VT screen switch, zap, or mode change keys. I
submitted a small patch (Bugzilla #1298) that cathes a new case where
this was being missed, but that code is only ever used if XKB is
disabled. When using XKB mode, the problem still exists (that is,
holding down shift while using one of the special key sequences still
acts on that sequence).
I am XKB-impaired, and don't know if this is a problem in the keyboard
definition or in XKB itself. I have several applications that want to
use Alt+Ctrl+Shift+Fx, and the only way I can currently do that is to
disable XKB. Can anyone who 'gets' XKB take a look at this? Many thanks
in advance.
PS I filed this as bug #1297.
