X Scroll Event

I want to generate a Scroll event (identical to a scroll wheel on a mouse) but from software. Is there a function that will let me do this? I know there is XWarpPointer to move the pointer and XSendEvent but I'm not sure how to generate a scroll event. Any info apprectiated.

Does a Scroll event in X mean the same thing as is sent from a mouse's scroll wheel? Or is there another meaning (Like scrolling around a destop)?
