Completely useless reply, but can I just say it's amazingly cool (in a nerdy way) that you're doing modern perl development on VMS!
I used to manage a small vms server in the mid 90s and it was old school even then, but with some really awesome concepts that only plan 9 comes close to matching. Mark.
