I've deleted the commit message for the addition of the progress reports,
so I can't reply to it directly. The current approach doesn't play nicely
with my Gnome Terminal. I see:

I think it's doing a reverse wrap and going up a line, every time it backspaces
when at the leftmost column.
Whatever Test::Harness does for overwriting progress bars seems to be more
portable.
