Whatever... I just don't mind seeing the same color being used to underline the secondary selection as is used for the text itself, even if it's the same color as a style-defined underline. I think I left a comment in there for your first suggestion, but I didn't try it. Has anybody else out there given it a go? What do you think? An attack of featuritis?
