The point about having man pages in NEdit is to get help information
immediately, with a keypress or two, with the possibility of following
man page links (using the same process). The rangesets I added are to
highlight areas where the classic man would tty-style overprint repeatedly
for bold or overprint with underscore for underline. The macro finds the
backspaces, removes them, but marks their area with a "bold" or
"underlined" rangeset, so you can identify this add-hoc highlighting which
cannot be done with syntax highlighting (which requires recognisable
patterns).

It would be better if rangesets supported bold and underline directly.
Underline is quite easy (I've got a prototype for that), but bold/italic
is a bigger issue since the text widget doesn't know the fonts you've
chosen for your window, and I wouldn't want to add them to the rangeset
structure to avoid tighter coupling between components.
