Btw, Bert if you have time I think it would be great if you could do the release, assuming Thorsten isn't upset but just lacks the time to do it.
All what was really missing was the update part for nedit.rc that Eddy committed. At least, I think fixing the problem of losing the file if the hard drive is full, isn't really required for the release - it's no regression, either. Moreover, although we used to do primarily binary releases in the past, if it is a bit different this time it won't hurt. More important IMO is that distributors can get the 5.6 sources so that they stop compiling the outdated 5.5 version. Going on with fixes (possibly until something gets really broken;-) doesn't lead anywhere at this point. Alone for the changes in X and the selection problem with klipper a maintenance release is overdue, IMHO, and the only reason it isn't done seems simply to be a lack of time to do it. (I also cancel all of my proposals like the three line change in the syntax highlighting or the $command_shell thing, until after the release.)
