Hi Araki, Last night I got Libvte to build and Synaptic to work after removing mlterm/xwindow/x_imagelib_none.lo as Araki told me.
And that fixed the build problem on Fedora two. Gnome-terminal now works fine on both Ubuntu and Fedora. I'll open another thread for Compiz issue that causes gnome-terminal to crash after starting it.
