Hi Evgeny,
As others have pointed out, your best bet right now is to keep your
raw disks backed up and wait for better tools for ZFS data recovery.
I've recently worked on some ZFS changes to make such recovery easier
and have a higher success rate. It will probably take a few months
until it is pushed to Illumos but I'll let you know once that is done.
I'm planning to write a blog post once the feature is out. Here's a
few things that I've addressed that might be applicable to your case:
- Add debug tracing during the pool import process
- Allow importing pools through configuration changes (e.g. a device
was replaced)
- Add global variables to allow overriding some checks during pool
import, using the kernel debugger / zdb.

Pavel

I am still wonder about two things, may be someone more familiar with
FreeBSD realization could provide some clue:
- how ada2p2 partition GUID could change if Evgeny make bit-to-bit
clone of the whole drive? Is it possible to zfs recreate partition
when it adding partition to pool?
- why ZFS allows attaching ada2p2 to a new pool and in same time it
rejected attaching of ada1p2, while both drives are in the same
condition?

Hello Pavel/BlackCat,
I have a great news - ada3 clonning has been finished! I did not
want reboot the server to pull out the drive without letting you know.
Please feel free to check on it.
Thank you,
ZH.
