@avg-I, I disagree that it's natural to read it that way. Yes, a \`zl_writer' 
state variable formerly existed with very old provenance from when ahrens first 
landed ZFS in fa9e4066f0 31-Oct-2005— but for all the variable's existence it 
was protected by \`zl_lock'.

Now the state variable is gone, but \`zl_lock' is still there, and now there is 
\`zl_writer_lock'—which I argue is confusing in the context of 1271e4b1 as of 
this afternoon.
