Hi, My name is John Bannick.
Your group was recommended by Tom Ward, who moderates the Audyssey group. I just ported 18 of our (7-128 Software) blind-accessible games to the Mac. That being said, I'm a total noobie when it comes to Mac programming. By way of background, I've been coding professionally for 30 years, in most languages on most operating systems. When I worked at Kurzweil, I learned that the reading machine contained a copy of the text-based game, Zork. That got me interested in accessibility for people who are blind, deaf, motion impaired, and otherwise specially challenged. A few years ago some friends and I formed 7-128 Software, a mainstream casual computer game company, in Salem, MA. We've got a pretty good inventory of games: the Inspector Cyndi in Newport detective games, the Tyler puzzle games, the Woople Word games, and most recently, the PizzaGames, which are educational games for kids ages 2 - 7. Eighteen of these games self-voice and work with JAWS. All of our stuff works on Windows, and now on the Mac. No. They don't work with VoiceOver. Though I do want to see if I can make them do that, as well as work with SAPI. What I hope to find here is answers to Mac related technical questions. What I hope to offer is some information on the games industry and coding, especially Java, in general.
