I don't think we have any plans to change this any time soon - we have plenty of cool ideas for product features & other stuff that will probably take precedence for the forseeable future - but if we ever did want to change it I'm sure CMake would be considered.
If anyone out there in the community wanted to volunteer to do the work to put CMake in place though that would be cool ...
