Paul, John's absolutely straight up on the new media thing and I get the impression he wishes he had grasped it earlier. To be fair, he's one of the few politicians who has never gone around pretending he was flawless and so using a medium where there is a risk of displaying flaws is less of a risk for him than it might be for others.
But John has always been at his best when communicating directly with people and he's just found a new way of doing that. I don't think he has anything to gain, he's not going to be a party leader or prime minister. He's just trying to reach out to people because he still believes in something. I wish more politicians had that attitude so i won't shoot them down for trying - even when they get it wrong. Mandelson doing secondlife 18 months too late is an example of that. At least he had a go at something new. On the Lisbon Treaty, do you really want to go into that in detail? - seems to be another discussion. But I'm a Labour candidate at the next election and even I have been pissed off by the government every two or three months for the past ten years. You will always find issues you are upset with - so can I - I understand that. But the only way we can deliver for the country is to get back to our core values and at our core, we are the only political movement with the potential for power that has the values required to build a good society and a sustainable society. So whatever mistakes John has made in the past, or whatever misguided policies he has backed, I'm glad he's now helping Labour people get back to their values. anyway, I feel on this list i'm bringing the tone down whenever i back labour or even back the principle of parties existing! :) Alex On Thu, Feb 12, 2009 at 2:05 AM, paul perrin <[email protected]> wrote: > My comments... > - > What is the petition for?
