Hi,

I am new to this list, and I hope it is not the wrong place to ask this
question:

I am looking for a developer to create a public interest mashup appplication -

I am working with the MFA forum http://www.mfa-forum.net/ - it is a not for
profit network involving clothing companies, world bank, development agencies,
ilo, trade unions, NGOs which is working together to coordinate a responsible
response to the changes in the apparel trade that has happened after the end
of quota control, and now with the global recession. (i.e. what happens to
clothing and textile workers and their communities when global supply chains
shift?).

One of the things they periodically ask for are the latest trends in terms of
export volumes and prices of clothing being exported from vulnerable countries.
I do this by mucking about on a spreadsheet with data from the EU and US trade
statistics websites. But I am sure it could be done much better as a mashup.

Another really useful bit of kit would be a world map where people could post
links and first hand reports to information on the state of the industry in
different countries, factory closures, job losses, labour abuses and conflicts
etc... something like ushahidi.com.

Is there anyone here, or who you could recommend, who would be interested and
able to do this piece of work?

It is a fairly urgent request, not least because of the rapidly changing
economic situation, but also because I need to put the proposal together asap
to get some funding and support for this new way of getting/sharing information
amongst the network.

RSVP!

Thanks

Maya
