I wasn't aware of, though I guess quite a few My Society people were, of this data set:
http://www.ruralcommunities.gov.uk/projects/ruralservicesseriesdata/overview A posting on the open rights group's blog pointed me at: http://www.ruralcommunities.gov.uk/publications/ruralservicesdataseriesavailabilityofservicesoutputareadata2009 Which seems to have a lot of interesting raw "quality of life" data such as number of dentists, schools etc by area. It causes my puny spreadsheet reader some pain to read it so I haven't looked deep into it.
