I'd highly recommend doing this in Wikipedia - it seems the ideal place to me, and already has a lot of the information. Can you put the various bodies you've researched in there?
I often use Wikipedia when checking name changes of quangos and the like for WhatDoTheyKnow. Speaking of which, WhatDoTheyKnow itself has now a database of 2843 public authorities (with their FOI email addresses, and home pages) which is quite a comprehensive list compared to many.
