The CRB regime is very, very stupid, expensive and a rip off (a £5 check
charged at £50 - endless duplicated searches - profits to the senior police
officers retirement fund, which is why they are so enthusiastic about it).
If the taxpayer were not being forced to subsidise the unaccountable private
company 'ACPO' though another stealth tax (subsidising charity checks) the
whole CRB thing would have been done properly in the first place - and the
'unintended consequence' re: the jamborees would never have occurred.
The problem isn't in the detail, it is in the fundamentals (just like with
the post codes...)
