How does it know if two people are the same? You could go on name plus date of
birth (assuming people have entered their name exactly the same each time) but
that's all I can think of. Address is less reliable than it used to be, now
that directors can put the company's registered office as their service address.
Companies House try to join people records by their details and give them the same person id - they don't say in their spec doc for this dataset how they do that, but I suspect they err on the side of caution by requiring several details to match. There's a few records that have the same name and DoB, but no postcode, and they've been left separate. I didn't feel confident enough about going further with an automated process.
Ah, so there is a person ID and you don't have to do that yourself?
That's useful to know.
Presumably they could make it more accurate by asking for companies you
are already a director of on the incorporation/appointment forms, like
they used to - not sure why they took that off.
