I actually implemented something that tackles this problem graphically. You basically only need two Mapumentals, one starting at point A, other starting at point B, increase travel time for both and find the earliest overlap (that contains a nice restaurant in this case ;). Mapnificent (http://london.mapnificent.de, http://www.mapnificent.de) allows you to set multiple starting points and even see their intersection (Firefox/Opera only, due to bug in Webkit). While keeping the limitations of Mapnificent in mind, this might very well be the easiest solution for that problem. Or am I missing something?
