Hola Just received this from a friend -- apparently a project at KCL has scanned and OCRd the entirity of the Hansard of the Parliament of Northern Ireland (1921-72).
A brief shufty suggests it's... unpleasant to deal with. But perhaps someone may one day want to have a crack at making semantic sense of it, if we bring it to general attention. Still. Interesting. John Handelaar kildarestreet.com PS: If anyone has ever come across the extremely-short-lived records of the Parliament of *Southern* Ireland... do pass them on. Its Commons met at least once, can't remember if there's also a Lords session or two to find. ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Eleanor Margolies Date: 14 January 2011 23:23 Subject: Is this up your street for historical interest? It documents parliamentary discussion on a wide range of issues including industry, agriculture, transport developments and much more. Key events, including the aftermath of Bloody Sunday, the 1949 budget and the throwing of the mace, are included. The debates are rich with details of life at the time, including in 1929 for example, a dispute over whether flax should be barred from import in the new Soviet Union. Further details of this exceptionally rich resource are available at http://stormontpapers.ahds.ac.uk/ The site developers at Queen's University Belfast and King's College London plan to enhance and extend the Stormont Papers web site in the near future, and we need your feedback on the key areas that we should prioritise. If you are interested in using the site for research, teaching, or from general interest, please complete our 5-minute survey to tell us the type of new content and functionality that you would like to see. The survey may be accessed using the following web link http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/KQFWR9N. The survey will be available until January 28th 2010.
