I'm incredibly happy to see that the Media Standards Trust, headed up
my Martin Moore, has just launched http://Churnalism.com , a site to
help you work out what news stories are just recycled press releases.

Here's an explanatory video at the Guardian

This would an important enough new site for me to send round anyway,
but there is another reason I want to celebrate it. The idea for this
service came about sitting on the grass in a park in Cambridge in 2006
with Martin, me, Francis Irving and Chris Lightfoot. I can't remember
who came up with what parts of the idea, but I do know that where
Chris Lightfoot went, terrific, gloriously troublemaking ideas like
this tended to follow.

Respect to Media Standards Trust for making it happen, and respect to
Chris for still keeping us on our toes. I hope I can be this much of a
righteous pain in the arse when I'm dead

Tom
