This is possibly a bit off-topic for the list, but it's the sort of
thing I'd expect people here to know :-)
I want to obtain a copy of the Acorn classification by postcode
database, as used by the likes of UpMyStreet[1]. This is for a
legitimate, commercial use and we can afford to pay for it. However, the
official Acorn website (CACI) is very coy about prices and doesn't seem
to offer a simple database dump as an option - they want to sell
area-based lookups, which isn't much help for us.
Short of screen-scraping UpMyStreet (which I'm not really going to do,
although the thought did cross my mind), does anyone know if it's
possible to obtain a simple database that does nothing other than map
postcodes to Acorn categories, and if so how much it's likely to cost?
