Hi,

On the mailing list, I don't see many developers from other communities. I
think the main problem is that MMBase has it's own set of techniques to build a
CMS and it's not focussed on integrating with other projects and components.

If we want to attract other developers, I think we would need to integrate with
the techniques they are familiar with. This will lower the barrier to try parts
of mmbase and finally work on the whole product. The effort to attract other
developers will repay itself in the effort others will put in mmbase and the
ideas they will discuss in communities.

The major issue is to become more open to other developers, projects and
techniques.
The first thing is to accept the fact that people integrate with other
products; discussions about mmbase being the better and easier product is often
not the issue because people are trying to integrate mmbase into their own
stack which they cannot abandon in one day.

Helping people integrate with other products (answering questions) will have a
positive effect on the community.
One other thing I wonder about is not finding any samples or articles about
integration with cocoon or struts. This is one of the major places to attract
developers.
Another thing is to look at and implement important java and other standards.
This will also attract other developers.
