The current CVS HEAD is called 1.8.1. We plan to release it
soon.
A branch for 1.8 will be created as soon as somebody wants to change
something which is not proper for the 1.8 branch (which should now be
referred to as 'stable'). From that moment on HEAD will be called
1.9.0.
