Yesterday we held our second meeting of the MMBase Component
Framework project. We discussed the projectplan, decided about some
conventions like configuration, packagenames and directory-structures
and a few of the example components we would like to develop.
I will finalize the first concept version of the projectplan the
following days. It will be posted it on http://www.mmbase.org/mmcf
our projectpage.
The MMBase Component Framework will follow the conventions already
laid down in the MMBase configuration directory. A new configuration
file /config/components.xml and a new directory /config/components
are added to harbour future configurations of components. Development
already started, a new branch for 1.9 is added, and some source files
are already added to the cvs: http://cvs.mmbase.org/viewcvs/src/org/
mmbase/framework
Components in MMBase cvs will live in either applications or
contributions, their is no need for another directory since almost
all applications or contributions are candidates.
All projectmembers will start (or already started more or less)
developing components within their own web 'environments' or
frameworks. Because of this we could not decide upon just one example
component to develop, their will be a few. Most likely these will be
a poll, an ecard application, the transition of MyNews and a calendar
application.
