I think it may be the case that 1.2 is the version which you should use in tomcat 6 (servlet 2.1). I suppose you are using tomcat 5? I don't see the point of using tomcat 5. The latest stable release is tomcat 6. But well, on the other hand I don't recall how 1.2 is better then 1.1.2.
