Hello,
Here is finally a first release of the Web-in-a-Box system:
What is WIAB?
As some of you already know, there has been a lot of working on a project
called Web in a Box for quite a while now. In commission by De Glazen Stad
(http://www.glazenstad.amsterdam.nl/) we made a blueprint for new websites
based in MMBase. This developement was made with public funding trough De
Glazen Stad, and will be refunded to the public very soon now. The funtional
goal of this exercise was to build a "maintainable, easy to setup cost
effective website with CMS". WIAB is used now, without a lot of
customisation, for a lot of governmental websites inside Amsterdam. A
complete list can be found at the website of the Glazen Stad.
Inside WIAB are a lot of functionalities, the most important of them:
* Workflow: Inside WIAB there is a staging and a live environment. On
the staging environment is a workflow, in which different people can work on
the writing, controling and publication of new/existing articles/other
elements. This editing is done in the workflow, where you can find
tasklists, searchforms and initiation of new elements. The editors used in
the workflow are made in cooperation with Q42 (<http://www.q42.nl>)
* categories/navigation/frontend: Al content itself is 'stored' in a
category-tree. These data-categories form the spine of the content
structure, and can be connected to navigations. In this way, the
frontend-navigation displays the elements inside a matching content
category.
* Authorisation: groups of people can be authorised to
edit/control/publish inside a information category. All categories can be
authorised for seperately.
* Navigation editor: a navigation tree can be edited in the Navigation
Editor. this editor translates XML to a DOM object, which can be modified in
HTML.
* Target groups/Themes: It is possible to make different navigation
trees for different target groups/themes. These navigations are independent
of eachother, and can have different layout for different navigations.
* Rich text: with a lot of help from the NOS we implemented rich text
in the editors: it is now possible to have layout (bold, italic, lists) and
links to other objects inside a text.

A downloadable pre-release-version of WIAB can be found at
http://demo.framfab.nl/register_form PLEASE REALIZE THIS IS NOT A FINAL
VERSION FOR DISTIBUTION. There will be more documentation, installation and
most important of all: a smoother installation procedure and better package
management. We just want you to finally be able to see some work we did and
are very curious on your findings on it. Besides the Runner, the WAR's and
the Sources you can find a PDF of the (dutch) manual as a download. Inside
the runner, war's and sources is documentation on installing.
The URLS inside the application after running it:

EDITORS
These editors can only be used with all features with Internet Explorer 5.5
<http://[ownserver:port]/staging/wiab/edit/index.jsp>
You can login using the same old MMBase admin/admin2k

System requirements:
*       Imagemagic
*       JDK 1.3.1_02 or higher(not 1.4)
The editors work best on Internet explorer 5.5, due to the use of richtext
in the Editwizards. The website itself is specified for most current
browsers.
HAVE FUN!
