CALL FOR:

New MMBase package: org.mmbase.storage and org.mmbase.storage.database

This package will contain the new storage classes, which are planned to
replace (when proven suitable) the original databse support classes.
To prevent confusion, and also to work towards a more clearer package
structure, the classes need be moved to a separte package.

This change is part of the Cleaning project, but since it impacts on the
MMBase package structure and will influence the configuration needs for
those who already use these classses, a vote is called.

org.mmbase.storage will contain the main Storage and Transaction interfaces

org.mmbase.storage.database will contain the interfaces and
implementations for storage in generic databases (OO and relational)

For specific database implementations, we might concider:
org.mmbase.storage.database.<type> packages, i.e.
org.mmbase.storage.database.informix
This is not part of the vote right now but I value your opinion during
this vote (to anticipate future polls).

Rules (so y'all know):
Committors have till the given end-of-call date to react.
All commitors have an obligation to vote - if you have no opinion, vote
ABSTAIN.
Do not quote this entire post.

This is a Majority call.
A majority call is determined by tallying the positive votes and
subtracting the negative votes and comparing the result with the margin
of the call.

Unless specified otherwise, majority calls have a margin of three votes.
This means that for the vote to succeed, the positive votes need to
outrank the negative votes by three votes.

If this margin is not made, or if someone casts a VETO, the vote fails.
If the vote fails because the margin was not made and not everyone had
voted in time, the call may be extended.
