Hi developers, We want to update you on a regular base with information about the MMBase projects. This is the first attempt. Due to vacations not all project leaders could sent information in time. Maybe they can reply on this email when they are back. Otherwise information about those projects will be included next time (probably next month).
Greetings Rob ______________________________________________________ MediaProject: The media project uses inherentance on its object structure. e.g. An audiofragment is a mediafragment, and a videofragment is also a mediafragment. This enables you to work with mediafragments that will affect both audio and video. At this stage the object structure finished. We are now looking into already existing audio/video files and see how they can be transformed to the new media setup. The database search query project: It has finished design of the SearchQuery interfaces (see project homepage), and is currently implementing these. The next step will be to look into configuration options necessary to take advantage of database-specific features. Due to vacations, there will be a 4 week pause from start of september 9th till october 7th. Documentation: Goal of the documentation project is to develop a concise set of documentation before MMBase 1.7 is released. The XML version of the docbook-DTD was chosen as the format for all MMBase documentation, as to guarantee structured documentation, platform independency and easy conversion to PDF and html. An overview of present available documentation can be found at http://design.mmbase.org:8070/testing/documentation. The first output of the team can be found at http://www.mmbase.org:8070/testing/common/lastbuild/mmdocs/ Editwizards: The wizard code is finished. There remains a problem with performance, as maintaining status between pages currently consumes a lot of memory. Improvements have already been made, but it is possible more changes are needed. Documentation is being worked on. When this is finished, the project will be closed. Any remaining performance problems will then be treated as bugs (outside the scope of the project). Transactions: frozen. Application2: frozen. Cleaning project: no changes. MMCI 1.2: An implementation proposal for genera; enhancements is ready and available on the mmbase.org site (as well as a progress report). Actual implementation will commence as time comes available to those particpating. A proposal for how to build MMCI extensions, such as admin tools and security maintenance, still needs work.
