Indeed SCAN has noting to do with an 'plug and play' config, so if we are going to deliver the new release with main view 'plug-and-play' we should turn it off. BUT, if we want to aim at backwards compatibility, i'm against turning scan off, since this feature was on in the previous release.
I'm not against turning SCAN off, but it is really important to answer this question.
