what you are searching for / asking for is more about streaming is personaly use webcam_server http://donn.dyndns.org/portalofnnod/webcam_server.html to watch my dog at home :) but also ffserver to stream web-cam images/movies (because it also cam stream images via flash) http://ffmpeg.sourceforge.net/ or look at http://mpeg4ip.sourceforge.net/ or the open-source streaming server from apple but there are ohther solutions (gstreamer and m-bone style applications) The role of mmbase in this situation would be that it manages the meta-data couples user/forums/documents to the video's
