I don't dislike your idea, though perhaps the implementation is a bit
clumsy (  }catch(Exception e){System.out.println("hier"+e.toString()); }
??)

You're a voted committor, if you'd propose this improvement as a hack, you'd
have my vote. On the other hand the taglib 2 project is still open (and the
comparator attribute was created by it). As the leader of this project I
would also welcome you in the project (beter late than never..), and then
I think you can make the change simply with the aproval of the project (er,
me).
