Hi, Hope you all enjoyed your holiday. We would like to continue the developers meeting in the year to come, and also make a fresh restart with the users meeting. For those not familiar with the users and developers meeting: the goal of the users meeting is to inform users on released functionality and show how it can be installed and used; the goal of the developers meeting is to discuss new and ongoing development projects. The goal of both meetings is to stay informed, discuss, have a chat and a beer. To keep the number of meetings at once every two months, we propose to have the developers and users meetings at the same time and at the same location. Same time, same location, but separate meetings, means that you can choose between the developers or the users track or make a nice mixture of both by walking around. The planned dates for the meetings are: Thursday 2 sept 2004 - users meeting & developers meeting - 19:00-21:00h (18:00h for those who join the pizza) Thursday 4 nov 2004 - users meeting & developers meeting - 19:00-21:00h Thursday 6 jan 2005 - users meeting & developers meeting - 19:00-21:00h Thursday 3 march 2005 - users meeting & developers meeting - 19:00-21:00h Thursday 5 may 2005 - users meeting & developers meeting - 19:00-21:00h So mark the dates in your agenda! PROGRAM OF THE DEVELOPERS MEETING ON 2 SEPT We propose the following agenda for the developers meeting. 19:00-19:30h MMBase 1.8 / planning / projects (Rob Vermeulen / Gerard van Enk) 19:30-20:00h Which tools are necessary on the new MMBase server (Gerard van Enk / ...) 20:00-20:30h Ins/outs of the storage layer (... / ...) 20:30-21:00h Introduction in the field types project (Michiel Meeuwissen) If you have any suggestions with regard to the program or like to discuss other topics, please send an email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] . PROGRAM OF THE USERS MEETING ON 2 SEPT 19:00-19:45h Cloud context security and the VARA.nl implementation (Michiel Meeuwissen & Pierre van Rooden) With release 1.4 a pluggable security framework was added to MMBase. Since that time a number of security plug-ins have been developed and are in use. For instance: Didactor uses nl.eo.didactor.security.Authentication, LeoCMS (the implementation for Leeuwarden) uses nl.leocms.mmbase.security.cloud.Authenticate and a lot of sites use org.mmbase.security.implementation.cloud.Authenticate However, since release 1.7 MMBase is shipped with a new security plug-in, which is called Cloud Context Security (CCS). CCS is flexible and offers a lot of functionality. In this session the CCS functionality and the way it is used in the new VARA.nl site will be shown. 19:45-20:45h Installing and using the package builder, package manager and theme manager (Daniel Ockeloen) The package builder, package manager and theme manager have already been presented on some occasions. This session, however, will show you everything you need to know to be able to install and use these tools to build packages from your MMBase applications and offer them to the community. The topics addressed in the meeting are: 1. Installing the package builder, the package manager and the theme manager. 2. Using the package builder to build packages from your MMBase applications. 3. Using the theme manager to manage and change the design of your MMBase applications. 4. Using the package manager to offer your package to other users and deploy the packages offered by them. 20:45-21:00h Any other things and discussing the program for the next users meetings.
