well, I have never used this for anything seriously. Textbuffer only handles strings, so you have to convert to this before saving. You could run into som problems with decimal-point depending on regional settings (if it differ from writing to reading). I see your problem in hiding the key, but I have no suggestions, apart from making a dll containing a method returning the key. Then it will be a bit more difficult to read the key for a user with access to development. If no user has access to development, then you could simply "save" the key in a macro.
