Hi Paul,

New labels are sometimes stored in the *.alt file. This is the temporary label store. The labels don't get flushed to the *.ald file until all clients and AOS are shutdown. Sometimes even this does not work. What you have to do is shutdown the AOS, close all clients, delete the *.aoi and *.ali. When you restart Axapta either 2-tier or the AOS, Axapta will rebuild these files, and your label files will be updated. Hope this helps. --Tom

Subject: [development-axapta] The case of the mysterious disapearing labels in Axapta 3,0 service pack 1 with AOS

Hi All

Is there anyone who can give me an explanation for why labels, which have been created quite a while ago, and which have worked, all of a sudden disappear?

One of our clients has been plagued by this problem – upon investigation there are holes in the *.ald files’ label lists. This client has recently gone over to AOS, but the problem occurred even before, when they only ran 2-tier. However since going over to AOS, the frequency with which this problem occurs seems to have increased.

If anyone has a solution to the problem or a reason for why the problem occurs, I would be very greatful to hear of it.

Cheers in advance

Paul Robson
