Thanks for the feedback.
I didnt know what a san was until I got here either ;-) Our DB admin asked
me to add that detail to the mail..
We also did not switch to a san environment just for Axapta, we have a
number of other (in-house) applications that required the power and data
safety that the san offered us. Axapta only handles our financial and crm
tasks, our operations tasks are all handled by in house software.

Hello Matt,
I don't know how to quantify the "activeness" of our 45 concurrent users.
45 users is all of our Axapta users split between department like
production, IT, Accounting, purchase, customer services, etc... So they
don't all capture payment, create credits notes and run reports. They
probably put way less load than yours if you need 2 AOS. We rarely have
slow down but they occur mostly during month-end when a lot of users
generate many reports. We've never checked resource usage in everyday use,
only during Inventory closing because it was taking way to much time. We
bought a machine that is dedicated to do Inventory closing. Not something
special, it's a P4HT. I think it takes 5 or 6 hours per month. We found
out that the DB disks were taking heavy load during Inventory closing. But
we're way far from needing SAN disk! I didn't even know what it was, I
needed to ask my Network Admin! :-) I'm simple developer here. Oh yeah and
we only have 1 AOS.
Regards,
Steeve...

Hi Steeve,
So you find axapta to be pretty quick? How active are those 45
(concurrent,
right?) users? For interest sake, how many AOSs have you distributed your
users over (we're clustering two AOSs for our users)?

Our database (MS SQL) is now 9.35Gb and the logs are 4Gb. Logs are
growing and shrinking but never go over 5Gb. The DB is growing 1Gb a
month
and on a normal day we have about 45 users. No server overload for us
yet.

Hi all,
The bulk of our installation has been live for about four months, and
our
DB
has reached a little over 20 Gb. Our monthly growth is about 3-5 Gb a
month.
In a busy period such as our month-end we have 50-plus users capturing
payments and credit notes and running reports. We have found that in
such
a
period, our DB server is taking strain, not ITO processing or memory
usage,
but in terms of physical disk usage (Note that our AOS is not taking any
kind of strain, it is handling the load without breaking a sweat). This,
as
well as what seems to be contention over tables, is slowing down our
users.
This is extremely worrying, as our user base will only keep growing!
We are curious as to the size of other installations out there.. surely
Axapta is capable of more than 50 users working heavily? What sorts of
db
sizes and user bases are the rest of you dealing with?
