No it will not, this is a feature of (n)varchar. The 20 is just a max
length, but it's still dynamic.

Axapta uses varchar (nvarchar in unicode setups) for regular string
fields, unless you were thinking of something else...

No in MS SQL there is a data type called text
Variable-length non-Unicode data in the code page of the server and with
a maximum length of 231-1 (2,147,483,647) characters. When the server
code page uses double-byte characters, the storage is still
2,147,483,647 bytes. Depending on the character string, the storage size
may be less than 2,147,483,647 bytes.

Hi all,
This may seem like a stupid question, but are 'Memo' string
fields the same
as SQL varchars? 'Memo' seems to be the only length
specification available
other than exact values.
