in your child form you should do somethin like this:
1) ClassDeclaration
Object callerForm;
2) INIT
callerForm = this.args().caller();
3) where you need it:
callerForm.bookRefresh();
And of course in your caller form you must have a methode bookRefresh().

Hi all,
I have a child form which is launched using a menu item button located
on the parent form. The child form's functionality may update the
current record on the parent form.
How does one refresh the parent form's datasource only after the child
form has been dismissed?
Any reference to an example in Ax/anywhere else will be most helpful.
Regards,
Christoph.
