To just show another field I would relly prefer the display as it takes a lot less power than a join.

Ämne: [development-axapta] Display methods vs linked datasources

Hi all,

I'd like an opinion on best practice around using display methods vs
linked datasources.

E.g. I want to show the description of the cust group on the
overview grid of the CustTable form.

Option 1 entails writing a display method on the CustTable table
which returns the cust groups description.

Option 2 requires the addition of the CustGroup table as a
datasource and showing the Description on the overview grid.

The DevGuide suggests option 2 but this suggestion seems to be
implemented less often than not in the native application.

All comments appreciated.

Regards,

Christoph
