Anyone who has the itch of making the 6.x => 7.x transition smoother should be hunkering down in the Coder module queue to write up some of the changes at http://drupal.org/update/modules/6/7 into rules that can then be applied en masse by everyone.
Not to mention that the two pages of open "Needs Documentation" issues need to be taken care of, so that we can make sure all the changes between Drupal 6 and Drupal 7 are documented on the update page in the first place. (And that hopefully, all of the issues that needed documentation on the update page were marked as such!)
If you want to help with this part of the project, you can go to the advanced search page http://drupal.org/project/issues/search/drupal and search for open issues with the issue tag "Needs Documentation", for Drupal version 7.x.
Typical task: read through issue queues and patches, and write up a paragraph on the Update page that explains what changed between Drupal 6 and Drupal 7. Or, if you don't have edit privileges on the Update page, post in the issue queue for review and someone else with edit privs can put it on the update page.
