I agree with George. As far as more advanced integration, that really
depends on what you are wanting to do. Drupal is used heavily in
government sites (including congressional). You might want to take a
look at openpublic for some ideas:

For data, there is also the Sunlight Foundation module, which pulls in
data from the numerous API's Sunlight Foundation offers:

What is the difference between a voter guide and a blog with the
comments turned off? Seems to me that your solution is already built
into Drupal. If you want an online poll, that is available as a module
for Drupal. If you want a practice ballot, that could be done through
themes and a simple form. This is really very simple, and could even
be done without Drupal. Seems to me that the real challenge in this
project is simply getting the content right. I suspect you would want
position papers for the available candidates. Some character and work
history might be in order.

We are working of this idea - http://bit.ly/openvoter - at

We will be working on this for the next 24 hours. As we have
Drupal developers/users on our team and I know lots of media sites
use Drupal and likely create voter guides, I am looking for any
tips about available code to leverage.
Any suggestions?
