Hi all,
I have a problem with the Fonera 2.0n, with firmware 2.3.7.0, developer
version.
The fonera is connected to WAN using a TP-LINK ADSL2+ modem (model
TD-8616). The ip address of the modem is 192.168.1.1 (subnet mask
255.255.255.0) while all the rest of the network, including the fonera, is
in the address class 192.168.7.99 (subnet mask 255.255.255.0).
I have the ppp connection set up as pppoe and I can reach the internet.
My problem is that the connection is quite slow so I tried to investigate.

I found that when I'm just connected, the ping goes smoothly and the
connection is ok: I can ping 8.8.8.8 (google DNS) with a mean time of 40ms
and my ISP's gateway (192.168.100.1) with a mean time of 30ms with no
packet loss. Unfortunately, after about 5 minutes of connection, the ping
to my ISP's gateway goes up to a mean time of 300ms with a 20 to 30% of
packet loss.
I tried to:
- Contact my ISP and it says that the adsl line and connection are ok
- Use a different modem-router instead of the fonera and the TP-link modem
(always pppoe): everything goes fine and I always have a mean ping time to
google's DNS of 40ms with almost no packet loss
- Use the TP-LINK modem with a PC: the connection is ok and I can ping
google's DNS in 40ms with no packet loss
- Reset the fonera to factory defaults and set just the pppoe connection:
the problem remains
- Ping the TP-LINK modem from the fonera: I get a 0.5ms of mean ping time
with no packet loss

Does anyone have any idea of what can be the problem? Or can someone help
me investigate? I really don't know where to look.

Thank you in advance to everyone that will reply.

Bye.

A
