Hi d3fault I think you should consider a bit more what you write - and your +1 to a code of conduct is a bit provoking since you probably are one of the persons that some people have in mind. Maybe even I am on Qt-labs - though I mostly try just to seek knowledge - and the last thing I want is to talk bad about Qt, which you have no problems with e.g.
*The Qt Project is, in this very moment, in the worst state it could possibly be in. * First of all I do not agree. Before it was nearly impossible to get changes into Qt - now the project is truly open (and I speak from experience). Now it will be able to survive even without Nokias help (since Qt has Digia and KDAB and quite a few personal contributions). But lets just see what the future brings in stead of whining before something has happened. Secondly: What are you trying to achieve by writing such a thing? Do you have some secret agreement with Elop himself? I think we all are a bit concerned about Elop and Qt within Nokia - especially people that (unlike you and me) can have their jobs on the line. You threat these persons that works hard for Qt without any respect. I must admit that shortly after Elop had the strategy with WP without Qt I was frustrated and wrote a lot of negative posts about it - but what did it help? Did it change the mind of Elop (the trojan)? Of course not. Now we can wonder how such a disaster CEO can keep his seat - *but nothing will change by (you) crying out loud. *If you have some good ideas I think people in here like to hear them - but currently you are not really helping. Furthermore I am sure that the Nokian Qt people but focus on doing Qt. You are wasting both your own and their time - and giving Qt bad advertisement. What is your help to the Qt project actually? I fail to find any patches that you have made. Finally we do have one thing in common. We both prefer Widgets over QML - but I am sure that I and others can do without your 'help' on that area ... (since your word probably does not count high in here ...) @subject / everybody Not that I am directly against a code of conduct - but I fail to see what problem it will solve .... Would it mean that someone should be blocked from contributions? (That seems to be a bit silly if the code is ok ...) What does it help to make a block on a mail in here? In both cases new mail addresses can omit the blocking.... Theoretic the ML could be moderated - where people can get white-listed to post directly after a while (if they behave well). However I am not sure that the problem is worth doing such a work (since nobody in here will listen to things like *'The Qt Project is, in this very moment, in the worst state it could possibly be in.' serious*). Maybe moderating some of the blogs would be more important - but I think that should be the last solution. (And all this is said by one who has really has fought anti Qt guy on linuxin.dk with the nick 'Bill Gates' - that really deserved a ban - but still that would imply that someone screams about no free speech and makes comparisons to e.g China ... There really is no silver bullet to this problem ...) regards Thorbjørn On Fri, Jun 22, 2012 at 12:49 PM, d3fault <d3faultdot...@gmail.com> wrote: > On Fri, Jun 22, 2012 at 3:29 AM, Alexis Menard < > alexis.men...@openbossa.org> wrote: > >> On Fri, Jun 22, 2012 at 4:53 AM, <marius.storm-ol...@nokia.com> wrote: >> > Right.
