RHEL6.x actually shipped with openssl-1.0.0-4.el6 (now at openssl-1.0.0-27.el6_4.2). In case RHEL5 matters for you, it shipped with openssl-0.9.8b-8.3.el5 and as of March 2013, the latest security update was to openssl-0.9.8e-26.el5_9.1, at least according to Scientific Linux.
