Because the function pointers returned from a given context are valid *only if used within that context* (i.e. when that context is active).

That's why you ask a QOpenGLContext object to give you its context-specific set of resolved function pointers. Any library that gives you only one set of function pointers can't therefore handle the situation in which you have multiple contextes (possibly on multiple GPUs).
