Hi Lars, As for the "extra" functions, it was seen a better choice to introduce a new class since there is a certain difference: the GLES 2.0 calls in QOpenGLFunctions are guaranteed to be available as long as the system meet's Qt's minimum OpenGL requirements whereas these new ones are not. With this minor separation in place the API makes you think a bit when writing the application code ("I'm using something extra, so is it sure the API in question will be available on all my target systems?") which is a good thing. On the other hand using OpenGL version numbers in the name is not desirable, especially since it would get very confusing in cross-OpenGL-OpenGL ES scenarios. Hence the choice of a more neutral term.
