QUIP-2 clearly states that the maintainer has decision power in case no
agreement can be reached.
the thing is that an agreement *can* be reached, as has been many times
before. the maintainer just doesn't give a shit.

The question is more about how much effort and discussion is needed to reach such an agreement, and what form such discussions take. In particular, how much of that effort and discussion actually leads to a better understanding? How much of it is just moving sideways and bloating the issue at hand with only tangentially related other things, while randomly flinging feces at other people? I think Ossi's statements in this thread are somewhat exemplary.

There is a limit to what people can tolerate. Personally, I'm not easily offended by such games. Yet, having dealt with Ossi before, I can understand that other people are.

best regards,
Ulf
