Hi,
we got 40 proposals of people interested to be a GSoC contributor for
OpenPrinting. We are aiming for running up to 19 GSoC projects for OpenPrinting
this year.
Once, we need you to finalize some decisions on the selection of the
contributor for one or another project.
But most importantly, we need 2 registered mentors for each project which we
want to run this year, meaning that we need 38 (!) mentors for OpenPrinting.
Signing up does not mean that you will have to take responsibility of mentoring
a contributor, some mentors will mentor more than one and also with 38 mentors
for 19 projects we have a lot of backup, so stepping up just for the numbers
already helps.
But naturally, we need also many active mentors, especially with expertise on
CUPS, GUI (GTK/GNOME and Qt/KDE especially), Fuzz testing, security, computer
vision, SANE, Zephyr, Python, Rust, PDF, web development, ... to provide useful
guidance for our contributors. And also bjust being there to answer questions
helps.
So please register as mentor ASAP, following these instructions:

o Inform the org admins (Aveek and me) that you have done so
o One of the org admins will accept your request
- New Mentors:
o Org Admins have to invite you. So tell the org admins (Aveek or me) that
you want to mentor
o They will invite you and you get an e-mail from GSoC telling so. Please
check also your spam folder if you do not find this e-mail
o Follow the link in the e-mail to register and agree to the 2025 program
rules and terms. Tell the org admins when you are done.
o One of the org admins will finally accept your request

discuss between mentors without the candidates seeing it, and a spread sheet
